The United States is in a recession and has been for some time. Unemployment rates are at an all time high. It has become more difficult to find a job. Higher paying positions have become extremely competitive in the hiring arena. A prospective job candidates need to answer the question how to write professional resume that will be eye catching and hold the readers interest to land that interview. There are many tricks and tips in resume writing and presentation at the job interview.

Image is everything. The only time to make a good first impression is when it is the first time. After that people have made judgements, used attitudes, beliefs and such. The synopsis is the first item a prospective employer sees about the candidate. It needs to make a first good impression and interest the reader.

It needs to be impressive, well written, tight and neat of course. This is not the time to use a dirty piece of printer paper with crinkles in it. Use good paper and make it neat. The more care the applicant takes in presenting their biography lets the future employer know that work quality means something to an individual.

To begin the resume writing process, there are several ways to begin. If one has an old one, a quick update is all that is needed. It is best to keep the synopsis updated and save a copy to the computer. If this is done, pull up the document and modify it for each job. Do not forget a good cover letter that will accompany the resume to the employer. Many employers accept emailed resumes and cover letters. This process makes it super quick as there is no delay for mail time.

If a resume needs to be created from scratch, check online for samples and templates. Find one that speaks to the applicants personality or towards the available position the person is looking at. Most templates online are easy to find. Go to a search engine such as google or yahoo and use a keyword such as free templates. Thousands of listings will appear in a matter of seconds. Download the one that looks appealing. It will download into word format so that the user can add what they would like to it and save it to their personal computer.

Once the download is complete, start by adding the applicants name, address, phone number and email address to the top. Center this information and make the font a little bigger than the rest of the document. By making the text bigger, the information will stand out to the reader. Consider using a different color but mainly black is acceptable in all job arenas.

The next section is to add in a great objective or goal statement. One sentence is best. This statement should state why a person is seeking the job in that field or what their intentions are for a career path. There are examples of this online also if the writer becomes stuck. Do not forget to add educational information. College, type of degree and years attended need to be added. Finally after that add in employment experience. When describing the job, make sure to add at least three bullets of job duties for each job. Also add a reason for leaving the current position.

Creating a resume does not need to provoke anxiety into the job seeker. Make it neat, professional and do not forget to spell check. Let a third party review it to get their opinion. Send it to the job prospect and wait for the interview call. The process is simple and quick.
