Of Babies and Toys
When we think about babies, it is almost inevitable that we will also think about toys. These two have always come hand in hand with each other. Babies love toy and toys are made for these young individuals. But, you should not be negligent on the types of toys you are giving you child.
Whatever type of toy you are to give, they should pass through several standards. Also, they should be safe, educational, and age appropriate. Also, it never hurts to be a little creative as long as you remain within the boundaries of safety for your child.
You can start by introducing your young child to basic toys. These may not necessarily be educational at first. Start with balls or animal toys. Then, you can later on progress to something that will trigger the child to think. This will be where the categories of educational will come in. Of course, you can start with these toys at any age but so as not to waste too much of your money, you can wait until they are at an age when they will be able to understand and grab the meaning of a certain toy.
Choose those that will stimulate the senses. There is a certain age when the baby will only be stimulated with the colors black and red. So, the knowledge of this will help you decide on the color combinations to use. Also explore other senses like for hearing, use toys with music.
Do not go for those which are too basic. This will be boring and it will lack enjoyment for your child. You can become a little more creative and introduce and give your child rockstar baby gifts. These can be in the form of funky baby clothes, pacifiers, and toys. You can go as far as giving a whole get up with the rock star theme. Or you can simply give a shirt and a simple to as well.
Your baby’s toys need to be age appropriate. Although it seems that your baby is having too much enjoyment playing with a toy for a 3 year old, it will not be safe to leave your child with that toy. Or the other way around will be that your older child loves playing with a toy for a baby. There will be no growth in that setting.
Buy things only from reliable places. Make sure there are no detachable parts that can be swallowed or that can cut. Also make sure the toys are non toxic. Washable toys may be better to give. They can prevent the growth of bacteria as you will be able to wash them when needed.
Young babies may not enjoy stuffed animals. Although they may look cuddly, they may only be the cause of injury. You just need to make sure that these stuffed toys have parts which are not easily removed. The seams need to be sown well to avoid the insides from going out. If there are ribbons or ling strings present, it is wiser to remove them.
