New studies carried out by Sainbury's reveals that an increasing amount of money is due to be spent in the seven days leading up to December 25th. During the pre-Christmas week in 2006, an estimated 9.1 billion pounds was splashed out on food, gifts and other expenses. However this year, such expenditure is set to account for some 11.85 billion pounds - a rise of some 2.7 billion pounds from the same period 12 months ago.
