Hi! This is Shawn Hutchison with onlinesellingdomination.com. It’s a quick little video illustration of part of the Online Selling Domination System. We will cover how to install and customize your WordPress blog.
The first step is to get yourself a domain name which you can do here at Go Daddy. I just found out here this little video to the right if you watch this first, you’ll actually save 25% on your one year purchase of a domain name. After you have that registered, you’re going to want to come on over here to a free resource page where it actually has half free and half very good deals. I highly recommend using host gator as your hosting account, very good prices obviously 495 per month. It’s likely much less in your bank right now for your website. And for an unlimited posting account, you can get that for 795 per month which is a number of websites.
What you’re going to do is hit the sign up now, pretty easy, enter your domain name that you just purchased, hit next, and follow the props. And that’s really all there is to it. And once you have your account set up, you will be able to log into your C-panel. Now, this is going to be your bank office and there is a million things you can do here but you don’t need to worry about all those that’s why we have this all laid out for you in the eBook so you do not get confused. You simply hit on the software program fantastic to go with the looks and you’re going to install WordPress new installation. This will already be your domain name that you use to register with host gator and it’s also where you decide where you would like your blog to reside, do you want it to be at this domain name when you type in or would you like it in a different directory? For instance—wholesaleproperty.com/blog, if so you input it there, create a username and password. Pretty simple, self explanatory install WordPress. That will take a couple of minutes. I won’t do it right now because I already have plenty of them installed.
Now, come back over here series of these pages and let’s get into some of the free resources. These are some of the upgrades that you will want to use for your WordPress blog right, now it doesn’t have much to it. And you need to do, make a few customizations and installations to make it truly search engine optimized.
Start off by downloading this, by just clicking on the links then you will have them saved hopefully in folders on your computer. Next thing you will need to do is get them from your computer to your hosting accounts so that they show up on your blog. The way you do that is with an FTP program file transfer protocol, FileZilla is the one that I used. Go here to download it. Once you have it downloaded, you will have an interface that looks something like this and you simply at this point you need to create a link to your hosting account. So that basically, that you’re showing that you’re giving authorization to make changes. Right here you just sent your ftp.domainname, your log in information for host gator and hit connect.
Right at this point on the right side, you will see all the files that are on your hosting account, the main files hit publication HTML. This is where you will find your blog if you use a directory which I did in this case. You select that folder and you can keep track of what’s going on up here.
Next folder is the content folder; this is where you’re going to upload your theme and plug-ins. So, you go back over here to your computer, hit plug-ins, you’re at the plug-ins for your host gator account. To upload, you simply right click and hit upload. It’s just that simply, you repeat for the rest of your plug-ins and your themes as well. Make sure you’re in the right folder however; I made that mistake at many times.
Okay, that’s really all there is to it. You get your domain name, a hosting account, you download the customizations and you upload them to your hosting account and what’s you end up with is a blog similar to this one. That’s all this is, very inexpensive to do and very powerful. As you can see this website is somewhere around six months old and has a page rank of two.
