Making Connections with CuteFTP Home

There are lots of Web sites out there that have FTP servers for you to connect to. How can you keep them all straight? Use CuteFTP Home to manage all of your FTP connections. Configure default startup directories, default remote directories and never have to worry about it again. Think of Site Manager as speed dial for your FTP.

Hi, this is Mike Callaghan, Doctor file finder. Welcome to part two for our special butterscotch.com five part series on CuteFTP home. On this segment, I'm going to look at managing connections with CuteFTP home. I have it here on my desktop. If you click on file, connect, you see the connection wizard. So it brings this up it's asking us for the host address. Remember you'll get this from your internet service provider. I put in mine. Click next. Now, going to FTP, you can go in anonymously or you can go in normally. I'm going to go in normally. Generally, if you go in anonymously you don’t have as many privileges. You click next. The CuteFTP home is connecting. It's asking me for default folder on my computer, so I'm going to save my download directory. I could put in a remote folder but I'm not certain yet so I'll leave that blank. Click next, save, finish and now CuteFTP home is connected to my web server over here. This is my hard drive on my computer over here. So if you click on this icon right here, it looks like an open book. It's the site manager. It opens up. You can see the things that we just put in. You can also go into type. Most of these things you would probably leave the same. You put in actions, you can put in one of the client connects, switch to this remote folder. You can see the remote folder right here. So if that’s what you’d want to connect, you could put in. And then the next time you connected, you would automatically go into the folder you wanted to on your remote website. So this is the connection manager for CuteFTP. Just click here to get it, have as many sites as you want listed. And that concludes part two.
