Luz Montez: And I’m Luz and you can fin d some amazing pieces of paradise right in your own backyard. Let’s start in the south. 48 miles east of Savanna, Georgia is tiny island of Tybee. Gorgeous clear water and bike pass and affordable lodging.

John Palacio: The seventeen streets in offers kitchenettes for 125 bucks a night and the DeSoto beach hotel have ocean front rooms for 180 bucks a night, definitely a hidden gem.

Luz Montez: There’s 18th century charm on an island off the coast of Alabama. Dolphin Island is remote and beautiful.

John Palacio: Then there’s what’s known as the Cajun Bahamas, Louisiana’s Grand Isle. Good swimming, crabbing and deep sea fishing.

Luz Montez: Other islands to look for in the south, Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, known as the golfer’s paradise but with great lagoons and marshes to paddle a kayak.

Luz Montez: Heading north, Michigan’s, McKenna Island is a great weekend getaway. The nearby land of Lake Wisconsin boasts wonderfully remote getaways like Washington Island and Madeline Island.

John Palacio: And next time you’re riding you’re riding the coasters in Sandusky consider a trip to Lake Erie Island’s with their sleepy Victorian towns and cozy cottage rentals.

Luz Montez: In the north east. Massachusetts Cape Cod boasts a number of wonderful islands including the popular 19th century whaling town on Nantucket.
