Loaded: Sysomos Blogosphere Demographics, Google Docs and Facebook Privacy CNET Loaded Afternoon Edition Tech News for Friday, June 4, 2010 Mark Licea: (CNET.com) It’s Friday, June 4th, I’m Mark Licea and it’s time to get loaded. Facebook launched an official privacy page. The site announced on its blog that users now have an official location to find information on changes to Facebook’s privacy settings. You can also ask questions as well as suggest improvements or just rent about your frustrations. The page already has a few video tutorials explaining the new privacy settings, you can find it at Facebook.com/FBprivacy. The New York Times released an event app for New York City life, it’s called the scoop and it searches restaurants, bars, events and a special category called only in NY which lists some of the more unique experiences like Trapeze lessons in the west village. It’s free and available in the app store. Google watched a new site for people that want to try out Google docs without signing up for Google account docs.google.com/demo will let visitors try full versions of Google’s Word Processor spread sheet and drawing tools for free. TechCrunch is reporting that Google’s upcoming web-based music service may now have a name, Google Music. A few weeks back Google announced that an iTunes like service would be coming to the Android market. We don’t have many details on the service itself just a possible name. The analytics firm Sysomos created a senses of the demographics of bloggers. They found that bloggers between ages 21 and 35 make up 53% of the entire blogging population. Bloggers under 20 make up 20% and bloggers between ages 36 and 50 account for 19%. The gender breakdown is pretty balanced with women at 51% and men at 49 and the U.S has the largest steak in the blogosphere at 29% followed by the UK then Japan, then Brazil. Not surprisingly California has the largest % of Bloggers in the states at 14% New York comes in at 2nd.
